Stewardship Program.
Help protect the scenic forests of New York State
by becoming a Natural Resource Steward.
These internship positions give members valuable natural resource management experience,
and provide the opportunity to work alongside officials from the New York State Department
of Environmental Conservation (NYSDEC) in the Adirondacks, Catskills, and beyond.
Natural Resource Stewards perform a variety of duties which involve the preservation,
protection and enhancement of the natural resources and the safety and well-being
of the public using these resources. This includes, but is not limited to:
n Providing visitor education on Leave-No-Trace principles
n Trail construction, mapping, and maintenance
n Invasive species management
n Wildlife Monitoring n Shoreline restoration
n Emergency assistance and search & rescue
Interns receive a paid stipend and are eligible to receive an AmeriCorps Education Award.
