2023 Fund for Public Interest

My name is Nathan Wagner, and I am the Director of Campus Outreach here at the Fund for the Public Interest. We are a national nonprofit organization that runs campaigns on behalf of environmental and social change groups like Environment America, or The Public Interest Research Group (PIRG). We typically run campaigns on legislation related to climate change, plastic waste, and other various environmental, public health, and consumer protection issues. I am reaching out to you because students in both political science and earth sciences tend to be the best candidates for roles with us, and tend to be the most interested in the work we do.

We are hiring students for paid, full-time roles on our summer campaigns, as well as long term career opportunities for graduating seniors. Students who work with us over the summer will gain skills in communication, leadership, and financial management as they gain exposure to the operations of a grassroots campaign. Students will also have the opportunity to participate in a variety of campaign activities including: running media events, canvassing, writing editorials, and lobbying elected officials.

I would appreciate it if you would forward this email to your students. Those who are interested can fill out a short application through the link below, and somebody will reach out to them shortly to schedule an information session and an interview where they can get a chance to learn more about what roles would be a good fit for them.

If you, or any of your students have any questions, feel free to contact me directly at [email protected]. You can also visit our website to learn more about us.
