The Wetzel Lab at Montana State University in Bozeman, Montana, is sponsoring Williams CES summer internships. We study the ecology of plant-insect interactions in the beautiful mountains surrounding Bozeman, Montana. Projects this summer include studying how plant-insect interactions vary across elevational gradients and how herbivore feeding damage influences the ecology and evolution of native and non-native plants in Montana. These projects advance our fundamental understanding of ecology and will help us predict ecological responses to climate change in the Rocky Mountains. There is opportunity for students to conduct independent research projects that could lead to presentations at scientific conferences and/or peer-reviewed papers. You can learn more about our work here: https://wetzellab.com/
Dates are flexible, but could be 6-9 weeks during June, July, and August. Williams CES has funding to provide students a stipend of $535 per week. We can help you find housing in Bozeman through our network of students.
Bozeman is an exciting and dynamic place to live and work. We are in the Greater Yellowstone Ecosystem, which, as one of the last remaining intact temperate ecosystems, is a global treasure. This place inspires much of our work, as we try to help understand and conserve it for future generations. Outdoor recreation opportunities abound from hiking and climbing to paddling, fishing, and more.
If interested, please email Will Wetzel ([email protected]) with your resume and a brief description of your interest in the position.
