Position Available: Communications and Outreach Intern
Organization:
California Interfaith Power and Light (CIPL) is a statewide organization mobilizing communities of faith & conscience to become leaders in the fight to halt global warming. CIPL has 700 congregational members across the state taking pro-active steps through energy conservation, renewable energy programs, education and outreach, and public policy advocacy. The Communications and Outreach Associate will work to expand our online presence, reach out to faith communities, assist with events (in person or virtual, as allowed), create educational materials, and develop and refine our programming. This is an opportunity to join a unique and dynamic organization and to build invaluable experience.
Responsibilities:
- Work with CIPL staff to inform congregations and supporters of important events and advocacy opportunities
- Help organize educational events and webinars for congregations on topics such as financing rooftop solar, energy efficiency, and EVs
- Interview member congregations and write summaries
- Provide solar energy and other referral services to member houses of worship
- Assist with research on environmental policy issues and religious organizations
- Help with social media postings
- Compile mailings, enter new contacts into database
- Other duties as assigned and interested
Qualifications:
B.A. or B.S. in-progress
Good communication skills including strong writing skills
Organizing experience helpful
Experience with Salsa or similar CRM a plus
Location: Oakland or Pasadena office. Option to work remotely.
Hours: Minimum 8 hours per week (depending on your availability)
Compensation: We are happy to work with your school to provide you with course credit; small stipend also available.
