The Arthur Morgan School in Celo, NC is seeking a Garden/Farm Intern from early May through mid-June. We are a boarding and day school for 12-15 year olds. School will be in session for the first half of the internship.
The intern(s) will work with the school’s Farm Coordinator, growing an acre of organic vegetables, caring for chickens, turkeys, a milk cow and working on the school’s grounds. Principle responsibilities include weeding, mowing, harvesting, planting, preserving food, milking and caring for animals. The intern(s) would also have opportunities to participate in an informal intern exchange with two other nearby farms. Some experience is desired; enthusiasm and willingness to learn, to work independently and to work hard outdoors is a must.
Duration: 30-40 hours/week from early May through mid-June
Compensation: $100+/month plus rustic room, meals while school is in session and simple provisions while it is not.
