Position: Food Recovery Network Internship
Food Recovery Network (FRN) is seeking numerous summer Interns. Interns will work closely with FRN’s National Team,
and depending on their skills, interests, and experience will be placed on a team to work directly on key upcoming projects
related to FRN’s national strategic goals.
This position offers opportunities for skill development in project planning, management and implementation,
collaboration, communication skills both written and externally, and will expand your experience by working at a national
nonprofit. The internship will also increase your technical understanding of hunger, food waste, and logistics of food
recovery.
About FRN: Founded in 2011, Food Recovery Network (FRN) is the largest national student-led food recovery movement working to
bring food recovery programs to colleges across the country. FRN currently has more than 230 chapters at colleges and universities
across the country and has recovered over 2 million pounds of food to date. To learn more about our movement, visit our website.
FRN is a fast-paced office where on any one day, lots of fun and impactful things are happening. We work hard to support our chapters
across the country, and we care deeply about feeding people and protecting our environment.
Examples of projects the intern might work on include:
● Assist with event planning logistics for FRN’s next annual conference, the 2019 National Food Recovery Dialogue
● Work with FRN’s Communications Team by generating content for FRN’s Website, Newsletters, & Social Media
● Seek food business and event outreach opportunities for FRN’s Food Recovery Verified program
● Research grant and funding opportunities for Food Recovery Network
● Support a variety of projects within the larger Communications, External Partnerships, and Programs realm as needed
Required:
● Excellent written and oral communication skills
● Strong attention to detail and organizational ability
● Is collaborative but also very comfortable to work independently
● Is comfortable receiving and giving feedback
● Skilled with managing multiple ongoing projects
● Familiarity with common social media platforms & comfort with learning new platforms
Preferred:
● Previous experience working with a nonprofit or startup
● Familiarity with food waste and social justice issues
● Sense of humor
