MadiDrop PBC is seeking an undergraduate student interested in a challenging opportunity at a high-potential startup in the Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH) space. We are looking for a competent, capable and self-motivated person to intern for the summer session.  This position will be split between time in the headquarters/business office and the manufacturing facility, both of which are located in Charlottesville, Virginia. As the home of Thomas Jefferson’s university, Charlottesville provides numerous options for affordable summer housing (which is not provided).

Responsibilities will include:

  • Marketing: Assist with Social Media efforts, e.g., creating collateral, press outreach, image creation and photography
  • Business Development: Assist with market research and lead generation/qualification
  • Manufacturing: Assist manufacturing team with packaging and logistics/shipping/inventory, etc.

This internship will run from mid-June for 10 weeks (actual dates can be flexible).  Your work schedule will be Monday-Friday (40 hours per week). Besides interest in our mission, we seek skills in Microsoft office software and familiarity with web search and social media.

About us: MadiDrop PBC is an early-stage public benefit company (also a C corp.) introducing a new piece of technology, the MadiDrop aka the M-drop, to market. The M-drop is a sliver-infused ceramic tablet which releases silver ions which effectively eliminate bacteria, fungi, protozoa, and viruses when used as instructed. Invented at the University of Virginia, the M-drop is engineered to treat 2000 liters of water. MadiDrop PBC was launched in 2015 and has the exclusive worldwide rights for its manufacture and sale. As of year-end 2016, M-drops are deployed in 103 projects in over 40 countries, and we estimate that they have delivered safe drinking water to over 37,000 people. It has been universally well-received by users seeking safe drinking water without chemicals.

The M-drop has a huge and far reaching potential to save the lives of millions of people throughout the developing and aspiring world. In the developing world, contaminated water is the leading cause of death among children under the age of 5, and is a global health crisis affecting over 3 billion people (refer to UN Sustainable Development Goal 6, Clean Water and Sanitation). The work we are doing at MadiDrop is all about saving lives, helping poor women and children and improving lives around the world. Visit our website (www.madidrop.com) for more information.

We are looking for people who are passionate, capable and committed to helping us grow the impact of M-drops by expanding our footprint. If this position is of interest and speaks to your strengths, and you feel you could be a valued member of our team, we would like to talk with you. Please reply to this posting with your contact information (Name, phone number and email address to reach you), as well as a resume or comprehensive history of your work experience.
