The Mission of the Niagara River Greenway is to restore the ecological health of the Niagara River and improve public access for all, while supporting the development of world-renowned scenic, natural, historic, cultural and recreational resources of the Niagara River Corridor. Advance the State’s commitment to comprehensive regional planning with continued emphasis on economic development, working collaboratively with our municipal partners, and community stakeholders.
The Niagara River Greenway Staff and Commissioners work to fulfill the Niagara River Greenway Plan through review of proposed projects, stewardship programs, community events, collaboration with municipalities and organizational partners. Our goal is to create a world class trail and greenspace network that communities can be proud of and cherish for generations to come.
Internship Description
NYS state is a hot bed for cycling this summer, with the completion of the Empire State Trail (EST), the longest greenway trail in the country, it is estimated 850,000 will ride some portion of the trail over one year. This position is to develop a web based cycling information center for WNY, collecting events hosted by all the bike shops, cycling clubs and wellness organizations and promoting them to the cycling community. Our Niagara River Greenway team is organizing a ride a week for 10 weeks, each one covering a section of the Niagara Shoreline Trail, which connects to the EST in Buffalo. Assistance with these rides will be one of the Intern duties.
The intern will assist in creating social media campaigns, monitor social media metrics and help with content and creation. The intern will also be asked to assist with general administrative tasks including data entry, assisting with Greenway events and meetings.
Hours are flexible, much of the work can be remote. The candidate should be out going, enthusiastic, well organized and willing to reach out to everyone in the WNY cycling community and encourage them to participate in information sharing and cycling events. We are looking for someone who is a team player and can integrate into our vibrant and passionate team while sharing the mission of the Niagara River Greenway.
Responsibilities

- Help coordinate and lead Shoreline Trail cycling and walking events
- Assisting with office administration, email and phone communication, data entry
Desired Skills
- Familiar with posting to Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, Twitter, YouTube.
- Good, professional communication skills, both on the phone and in person.
- Experience with leading group activities.
