Job Description
General Description: Norman Bird Sanctuary is seeking a 9-week, 40 hours/week seasonal
Summer Camp Intern. This unique internship offers an opportunity to gain valuable experience
working with a wide variety of age groups and subjects, observe many teaching styles, and get an
inside look at the administration of an environmental education-based summer camp program.
The Summer Camp Intern assists in the day to day operations of the summer camp program
including but not limited to: developing camp-wide curricula and resources, co-leading groups of
12-16 campers in grades Pre-K through 8, and co-teaching a variety of hands-on nature based
camp activities. Internship runs June 17th- August 16th, 2919, including one week of
staff training.

QUALIFICATIONS:
 Must be at least 18 years old
 Knowledge or a strong interest in the natural sciences
 Experience working with children in a responsible and professional setting
 Strong communication skills
 Must pass national and state background checks
 Preference will be given to applicants that possess CPR and First Aid Certifications valid
through August 16th 2019.
Applicants wishing to receive college credit through their universities will be given priority.
COMPENSATION: $10.50/hour for 40 hours/week
