Motivated, responsible, nurturing individual wanted for diversified learning experience on Vermont Wagyu beef farm. Primary responsibility will be to assist with calving, calf care, pasture management, and rotational grazing. Working closely with our herdsmen and learning by hands-on experience, intern will take part in all the day-to-day activities surrounding our genetically fascinating herd. Other tasks will include cattle health care, fencing installation & maintenance, barn clean up and occasional general gardening.

Minimum Requirements:
Hard-working Team Player with day-to-day flexibility
Drivers License
Own Transportation
Capable of hard physical labor including lifting hay bales, fencing and weed wacking
Two References
3-month minimum commitment, full summer
Skills and Knowledge You Will Learn If Not Already Known:
Preparation of a Pasture Management Plan, from day one,
Experience working with and herding cattle,
Assistance with pasture calving,
Cattle reproduction: heat detection, heat synchronization, and assistance with breeding, embryo production and transfer,
Experience with herd management software
A broader understanding of the day-to-day operation of a beef farm and the opportunity to assist our farm DVM/Supervisor, on occasion.
Rotating work schedule will include weekends and evening responsibilities.
Intern assumes responsibility for own health coverage.
