Regenerative Agriculture and Ecological Monitoring Internship Opportunity
Where: Hickory Nut Gap Farm, Fairview, NC 28730. Just southeast of Asheville.

What: Seeking motivated student who is interested in Regenerative Agriculture to come and stay at Hickory Nut Gap Farm this summer to work and learn in a fun, challenging, and face-paced environment.
Work Description: This position will support two aspects of our farm business. The first side of that is the Farm Ecological Monitoring services we provide to partner farms that we work with here in the Southeast . This involves day-long data collection events on-farm and then data organization and entry afterwards, which is the majority of the computer work that will take place. The second aspect of work is helping on the farm with daily livestock care. We raise beef, pork, chickens, and turkeys using regenerative agriculture practices that center on soil, plant, and animal health. This position is a mix of both indoor and outdoor work to challenge mentally and physically. We are flexible on the indoor to outdoor work ratio but we anticipate about 40% of the time to be computer work indoors, 20% assisting with ecological monitoring, and 30% doing farm work.
Job Requirements: Lift 50 lb. Valid Driver’s License. Experience with Excel or Google Sheets. Majoring in or strong interest in the sciences.
Lodging: We have a room at the historic that is on the family land that we farm, it’s a treat. The Inn is about 5 minutes up the road from the farm office.
Transportation: We can pick you up at the airport and you’ll be able to walk to work or you are welcome to bring your own vehicle.
