The Compact of Cape Cod Conservation Trusts, Inc., a 32-year old service center for open space
protection on Cape Cod, seeks a self-starting college intern for 8 weeks in the Summer of 2019
(begin and end dates are flexible.)
Mark H. Robinson, Williams’ Class of 1979, serves as Executive Director and will personally
manage the intern. A Williams student served as an intern in the Summer of 2015.
This position will expose a student to a wide range of skills and experience related to the fastest growing part of the environmental movement—nonprofit local land trusts. Working in our small
office of land trust professionals, the intern will learn more about the field through
accompanying the director on site visits, meeting with landowners and conservation partners, and
attending hearings.
The intern will be given tasks ranging from research for grant writing, field study and natural
resource inventory work (must not be afraid of the woods!), property monitoring and notebook
preparation, and research and production of a booklet of the impact of the local land trusts on
Cape Cod open space, in terms of acres, resource protection and property highlights.
We may be able to offer housing for the student nearby, subsidized by our office, since of course
housing is at a premium on the Cape in the summer! If you have your own place to stay, that
would give you a leg-up on the situation. The intern should have a vehicle for personal use.
Our office is in Brewster situated on a 50-acre parcel of pine-oak forest, staffed by several other
land trust professionals and Americorps workers.

resume, writing sample and available dates.
