Summer Internship at Anathoth Community Garden & Farm

Summer Internship at Anathoth Community Garden & Farm

May 27-August 5 (10 weeks)

Cedar Grove, NC

Housing and grocery stipend provided

About Anathoth Community Garden & Farm: Anathoth Community Garden & Farm began as a response to a murder in 2004, that brought to light divisions in the community. Anathoth’s mission is to cultivate peace by using good food and sustainable agriculture to connect people with their neighbors, the land, and God. Anathoth’s programs include a 180-member sliding-scale CSA (Community Supported Agriculture) called HarvestShare; internship and apprenticeship programs; and weekly community workdays during the growing season.

* Williams (and CES!) alum Julia Sendor ’08 coordinates the CSA and high school internship program – and spends a lot of time with the college interns, too!

About the summer internship: The summer internship is a curriculum-based, immersion program for adult Christians interested in developing the theological vision and horticultural foundation to integrate food/agriculture into their ministries. No horticultural experience required.

Over the course of ten weeks, we’ll explore the possibilities of using food and agriculture to reconcile with some of our community’s deepest divisions. Our work ranges from organic vegetable production on a garden and farm scale to community engagement through potlucks, workdays, and distribution. Our guided reflections touch issues such as race, class, sexuality, vocation, and technology from a Christian agrarian perspective.
