The SLA has opened the application process for our seasonal positions. This is a great way to gain professional experience while spending time on Squam. We are looking for conservation interns, environmental camp leaders, sailing instructors and more!

ENVIRONMENTAL CAMP LEADERS
JUNIOR SQUAM LAKES ASSOCIATION (JSLA)

The SLA is seeking some enthusiastic Environmental Camp
Leaders to guide our Adventure Ecology Programs for campers in grades 3-12. The program focuses on nature, ecological research, recreational skills, and teambuilding activities for youth. If you’re interested in environmental education for young folks this is the position for you!

JUNIOR SQUAM LAKES ASSOCIATION (JSLA) CAMP DIRECTOR
The Camp Director assists the Director of Education in all programmatic, safety, and administrative components of camp and educational programming. The Camp Director supervises the daily operations of camp and leads the overnight portion of the JSLA. Camp Director also gains experience with the administrative aspects of running a successful camp. This position comes with a good deal of responsibility and provides an excellent opportunity to build a strong skill set in this field.

2016 SQUAM CONSERVATION INTERNSHIP
The Squam Conservation Internship provides skills and experience for future conservation professionals while working as the driving force behind the SLA’s conservation mission. This unpaid volunteer internship provides hands-on conservation work experience and certifications over a broad range of activities. Interns serve as campsite hosts and caretakers at our backcountry campsites, work toward the eradication of variable milfoil, engage both youth and adults in environmental education, and perform other conservation duties such as shoreline restoration and trail maintenance and construction.

SLA RESOURCE CENTER STAFF

The SLA is looking for motivated and enthusiastic individuals for the SLA Resource Center. Some of the duties of the Resource Center Staff include: Processing boat rental reservations, inspecting and maintaining our rental fleet, instructing customers in rental craft orientation and basic paddling skills, monitor the boat ramp inspecting watercraft for invasive species (i.e. Variable Milfoil, Zebra Mussel), inform boaters about invasive species and much more! This is a great way to spend time on Squam, interact with the community and be part of SLA’s important mission!

COMMUNITY YOUTH SAILING
PROGRAM (CYSP)
Head and Assistant Sailing Instructors
This is a great opportunity to provide sailing instruction that emphasizes safety, proper handling of equipment, skill development, and an enjoyable experience for all. In many cases, the sailing instructor will be first contact that the student has with the Squam Lakes Association. Instructors must be friendly, courteous, and knowledgeable of the rules, regulations, and operations of the SLA Resource Center. Instructors must be enthusiastic about the sport of sailing and seek to expose students to the fundamentals of sailing as well as the importance of the natural environment in which we sail and the basic leadership skills inherent in the sport of sailing.
