CES Internship Position

Who we are:

Full Well Farm is an organic no-till farm in Adams, MA owned and run by Meg Bantle (they/she) and Laura Tupper-Palches (she/her). We grow vegetables and cut flowers on about an acre of permanent beds at a hand-scale. We sell box-style veggie CSA, flower CSA, attend the North Adams Farmers Market, have a farmstand, and wholesale to local restaurants and grocers. The farm focuses on food access, soil health and community. We are transparent business owners, happy to share information with crew members. In addition to producing quality produce and flowers, having a balanced life and leaving on-time are priorities on our farm!

Position Description

Ten weeks, June 12th – August 19th (Flexible start and end date but 10 weeks preferred).

The internship will include 16 hours of total farm work per week, one day of independent research on or off the farm, and every Saturday at the North Adams Farmers’ Market (6:30 am-2 pm ish). Our intern should be prepared for physical activity in all weather and early start times (some gear is available on farm). These are requirements for the position. We do not offer housing, and a personal vehicle is necessary to get to the farm, which is about a 20 minute drive from Williams College.

The intern will be able to pick their own independent research project that they will present to the farm owners in their last week of the internship. We are happy to help formulate the research topic.

We are a small crew of 4. You will work together with the farmer/owners and crew members. You will receive training on all tasks that you are asked to do. Here is a list of some of the main activities of the internship:

  • Farmers Market: drive to, set up and maintain an attractive display with one other employee, engage with customers and support an inclusive farmstand. Understand SNAP/HIP and provide friendly support to customers

  • Plant, weed, spread compost/mulch and use low-tech tools to prepare and maintain beds

  • Deliveries: drive the farm’s Chevy Express van to deliver local orders

Other activities may include:

  • Harvest vegetables and cut flowers with quality and efficiency in mind

  • Wash & Pack vegetables with care and accuracy

We are looking for someone who:

  • Seeks physical activity in daily life and in all weather conditions

  • Is able to lift 50lb, to bend, squat, be active all day

  • Listens, ask questions and is willing to seek guidance as needed

  • As there is not adequate public transportation to the farm, we recommend applicants have a vehicle or bicycle

  • A valid license with a good driving record is required to fulfill job duties
