OUTDOOR RECREATION – SUMMER 2024
35 hours per week, for 10 weeks beginning mid-June. Hybrid.
GENERAL DESCRIPTION
BRPC maintains an extensive database of outdoor recreation assets, which provides the core content for the new outdoor recreation website for Berkshire County (www.BerkshiresOutside.org). This website’s primary use is to promote outdoor recreation to residents and visitors, and it includes information on a full range of activities available in the region: hiking, biking, winter sports, water sports, hunting and fishing, etc. This internship will primarily involve documenting additional or changed outdoor recreation assets and updating the database.
RESPONSIBILITIES
•
Update written descriptions of many outdoor recreation facilities in Berkshire County to improve their usefulness and Search Engine Optimization.
•
Review existing photographs of outdoor recreation sites throughout the county and update them as needed.
•
GPS a limited number of trails in the county.
•
Research outdoor recreation programs and organization
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS (Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities)
Successful candidates are organized, research-oriented, self-directed, and creative writers. Familiarity with Berkshire County outdoor recreation facilities is a benefit. Applicants must have a valid driver’s license and access to a vehicle for conducting fieldwork. Applicants must be able to hike several miles through the woods on rugged trails.
