MOHAWK FOREST HOUSING COMMUNITY SUMMER INTERNSHIP FOR 2 STUDENTS
(Eligible for funding from CES and the Center for Learning in Action)
The environmental education internship at the Mohawk Forest Housing Community in North Adams involves creating and directing a curriculum for a summer day camp program targeting youths ages 2-12. As an intern, you will be working closely with the Regional Resident Service Coordinator to ensure that the youths are provided with a safe and enriching environment where they can learn and participate in fun activities. The internship also involves working with assistant teen leaders, ages 14+ to implement environmental awareness and education in the Mohawk Forest community. This may be the first time these teens are given the opportunity to take a leadership role, and you will ensure that they will leave the camp knowing the basics of leadership skills and feeling confident in their abilities to lead. The internship will bring an environmental focus into the summer youth day camp program through experiential education including field trips, activity days, and special events, all of which will be planned and organized each week. Space available at the complex includes an outdoor basketball court and open land for other physical activities. The Center for Learning in Action will provide strategic, transportation, and material support for the curriculum you design. Email Paula at [email protected] for more information or attend the CLIA Summer Opportunities Info Session on 2/27 in Paresky 114 from 6:30-7:30pm.
