2024 Summer Internship:  Research and Operations at the Greylock Glen Resort Project, Adams M

The Town of Adams and the Greylock Glen Outdoor Center seek a qualified candidate to serve as a Summer Intern supporting the professional staff at the new Outdoor Center.

Greylock Glen Outdoor Center & resort: A sustainable approach to development will enhance appreciation of Greylock Glen’s natural and scenic resources while establishing Adams as an outdoor recreation destination and expanding the local economy.

Greylock Glen Resort is a future four-season recreation and environmental education

development located in Adams, Massachusetts at the base of Mount Greylock, the state’s

highest peak. The 1,063-acre Greylock Glen site is owned by the Commonwealth of

Massachusetts, with a 56-acre development area in a 99-year lease to the Town of Adams. Key

components of the Greylock Glen Master Plan include: an extensive multi-use trail system; the

Outdoor Center consisting of a welcome center, café, retail space, classrooms, and educational

exhibits; a four-season campground; the Lodge (hotel and conference center); a performing arts

amphitheater; and an environmental art garden.

The trail network is mostly complete but requires mapping and maintenance. The Outdoor Center is currently under construction. The educational partner that will provide programming in and around the Outdoor Center has been selected. The campground developer has been chosen and is beginning preliminary design work.

Outdoor Center staff includes the Executive Director and the Superintendent of

Buildings and Grounds. The Town is seeking a qualified and interested individual to serve as an Intern and support these two positions. This is a full-time summer position, reporting directly to the Executive Director.

Remote work is authorized one day per week to facilitate writing and reporting.

Duties will include, but are not limited to:

 Research and administrative writing to support grant applications and reporting

 Identifying and cataloging flora and fauna found within the Glen

 Identifying and cataloging invasive species

 Assisting the selected educational provider in developing future programming

 Public education

 Trail inspection and maintenance

 Providing written reports to the Executive Director regarding species identification and trail

inspections.

This position may last from 6-9 weeks. Intern eligible for on-campus housing.
