Caretaker Intern – Hopkins Forest
8-10 weeks (dates to be arranged) to cover the period from late-May to mid-August
Salary: $11.75 /hr., 40 hours/wk.

Responsibilities:
- Property and Vegetation Management–cut, split, haul and stack cord wood; control invasive vegetation; maintain appearance around the buildings and grounds in vicinity of the Rosenburg Center; mow lawns; prune and trim shrubs; post property boundaries; help maintain research sites and equipment, assist with maintenance of power tools and heavy equipment.
- Gardening — maintain garden plots, weed, plant sets and transplant flowers; make new plant identification markers; keep gardens manicured throughout the summer.
- Trail Work — build and clear water bars, remove limbs and fallen trees on trail, clear culverts, replace trail signs, repair bridges, assist with trail restoration.
- OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES — assist with educational programs, update HMF databases, install exhibits and assist other field crews as needed.
Qualifications:
Preference given to Williams College students who are self-motivated, reliable, work well as a team with indirect supervision and can interact with the public. Experience in gardening, trail maintenance, carpentry and with power and hand tools is very useful. Interest in working in an outdoor setting rigorous summer conditions is critical.
