Cultural Districts Summer Internship: Help Us Produce and Market ArtWeek 2023!
7-20 hours per week for 10-12 weeks (June 15 – August 30/September 15). Hybrid Option.
The five cultural districts in Berkshire County (Williamstown, North Adams, Pittsfield, Lenox, and Great Barrington) have worked together for the last three years to produce ArtWeek Berkshires, a multi-day festival celebrating arts and culture county-wide with a focus on activating walkable downtowns, making the arts free/affordable, and highlighting the work of individual makers by showcasing work with an experiential, hands-on, and “behind the scenes.” approach.
For this summer, we are seeking a dynamic and highly motivated intern to help bring ArtWeek Berkshires 2023 to life and identify innovative ways to grow our audience both locally and regionally while providing value-add to participating artists. Your role:
- Attend monthly/bi-monthly steering committee meetings to learn about ArtWeek and track of goals, objectives, and deliverables.
- Help market ArtWeek Berkshires by working with BRPC, 1Berkshire, and the cultural district leaders to craft a social media campaign, help with social media postings and innovate ways to bring new and diverse audiences to the event.
- Help liaison with potential non-arts partners like hotels, restaurants, and off-beat locations (laundromats? barber shops?) that could serve as locations for performances and more.
The successful candidate is well-organized, self-directed, and comfortable with in-person, electronic, and virtual communications, and meetings. Familiarity with and/or interest in Berkshire County arts and culture is desirable, as is an individual who is bilingual and can help reach Spanish-speaking audiences.
