8 to 10 weeks (dates to be arranged) to cover the summer months from late-May to mid-August
Salary: $10.50/hr, 40 hours/wk
Housing available (requires purchase of board plan – ranging 7-20 meals per week)
Responsibilities:
- Property and vegetation management
Cut, split, haul and stack cord wood; cut brush and clear fields; maintain appearance around the buildings and grounds in vicinity of the Rosenburg Center; mow lawns; prune and trim shrubs; mark and post property boundaries; help maintain research sites and equipment, assist with maintenance of power tools and heavy equipment. - Gardening
Maintain garden plots, weed, plant sets and transplant flowers; make new plant identification markers; keep gardens manicured throughout the summer. - Trail work
Build and clear water bars, remove limbs and fallen trees on trail, clear culverts, replace trail signs, repair bridges, assist with trail restoration project work. - Other responsibilities
Assist with educational programs, install exhibits, assist other field crews and more.
Qualifications:
Preference given to Williams College students who are self-motivated, reliable, work well as a team with indirect supervision and can interact with the public. Experience in gardening, trail maintenance, carpentry and with power and hand tools is very useful. Interest in working in an outdoor setting.
